Disentangling ecosystem services perception by stakeholders: An integrative assessment based on land cover

چکیده

Understanding where ecosystem services (ES) are and quantifying their supply using stakeholder? information is key for effective sustainable management. This paper describes a participatory methodology extracting stakeholders’ ES perception continental Portugal based on land cover analytical hierarchy process (AHP), matrix-based approach with data visualization techniques, scenario analysis. Results show that drought regulation was the most valued by stakeholders recreation considered least important. also “Agricultural areas “Forests semi-natural areas” classes provide about two-thirds of total country. An “Economic development” will yield negative values all except food supply, whereas an “Environmental increase ES, supply. Finally, “Sustainable scenario, presents between previous two scenarios best operational from to report mapping assessment can be helpful planning in elsewhere.

Monitoring and assessment of land use/land cover changes in Kashkan basin using futures studies approach in managing ecosystem services

Land use/cover change is one of the main factors in environmental changes. The changes directly affect the value of ecosystem services. The purpose of this research is to evaluate the effect of land use/land cover change in the Kashkan area on its ecosystem services. This research was carried out in three stages, including the analysis of land cover changes, prediction of changes, and carbon st...

Impact of land use and land cover changes on ecosystem services in Menglun, Xishuangbanna, Southwest China.

Changing the landscape has serious environmental impacts affecting the ecosystem services, particularly in the tropics. In this paper, we report changes in ecosystem services in relation to land use and land cover over an 18-year period (1988--2006) in the Menglun Township, Xishuangbanna, Southwest China. We used Landsat TM/ETM and Quickbird data sets to estimate changes in ten land use and lan...

Valuing map validation: The need for rigorous land cover map accuracy assessment in economic valuations of ecosystem services

a r t i c l e i n f o Valuations of ecosystem services often use data on land cover class areal extent. Area estimates from land cover maps may be biased by misclassification error resulting in flawed assessments and inaccurate valuations. Adjustment for misclassification error is possible for maps subjected to a rigorous validation programme including an accuracy assessment. Unfortunately, val...

Impacts of land-use management on ecosystem services and biodiversity: an agent-based modelling approach

The science of ecosystem service (ES) mapping has become increasingly sophisticated over the past 20 years, and examples of successfully integrating ES into management decisions at national and sub-national scales have begun to emerge. However, increasing model sophistication and accuracy-and therefore complexity-may trade-off with ease of use and applicability to real-world decision-making con...

Ecosystem Services Flows: Why Stakeholders’ Power Relationships Matter

The ecosystem services framework has enabled the broader public to acknowledge the benefits nature provides to different stakeholders. However, not all stakeholders benefit equally from these services. Rather, power relationships are a key factor influencing the access of individuals or groups to ecosystem services. In this paper, we propose an adaptation of the "cascade" framework for ecosyste...
